6Y8 | The War on Music, John Mauceri ’67

John Mauceri ‘67 will give an immersive lecture, interspersed with the playing of movie soundtracks and other musical works, based on his book, The War on Music - Reclaiming the Twentieth Century. His talk will explain how the wars in this century have reshaped the world’s musical landscape. A similar lecture to the Class of 1967 produced a standing ovation.

Mr. Mauceri, a Tony, Grammy, and three-time Emmy winner, served on the Yale faculty for fifteen years, beginning in 1968, and built the Yale Symphony Orchestra into one of the most respected student orchestras in the world. He has also appeared as a conductor with most of our leading orchestras and opera companies and is the founding director of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. Most recently he served as the musical advisor to the Oscar-nominated film, Tàr.

This is a joint session joined by the Classes of 1968, 55th  and 1978, 45th Reunion.
