Despite advances in clinical treatment and research, cancer remains the second-leading cause of death worldwide. As one of the very first cancer centers designated by the National Cancer Institute, Yale Cancer Center has initiated extensive new efforts in basic, translational, and clinical research in an effort to lead in the epidemiology, early detection, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of this disease.
