Emotional Intelligence at Yale: From Theory to Practice to Systemic Change

Emotions influence decision-making, relationships, physical and mental health, creativity and performance. Our wise use of emotion is especially important to our well-being. In this talk, Dr. Brackett will describe recent large-scale studies on the emotional lives of children and adults, unpack what it means to give oneself and others “permission to feel,” and share the model of emotional intelligence developed at Yale. He will also share tools to develop emotional intelligence that can help enhance personal and professional success.
