Dr. Elga Wasserman ’76 JD (1924–2014) played a pivotal role in the opening of Yale College to women in 1969. As special assistant to President Kingman Brewster ’41, she collaborated closely with Henry “Sam” Chauncey ’57 to admit the first class of women, shepherding them through their undergraduate experience and paving the way for generations of women to follow.
