Custom '85 Memorabilia
Dear 1985 Classmates,
Please join us for a celebration of Yale's Class of '85 from Thursday, May 29 through Sunday, June 1. The weekend is full of opportunities to mingle, learn, celebrate, connect, and party like it's 1985!
To encourage participation, we have strived to keep the fees as low as possible: $285 for the entire event; $185 for each of Friday or Saturday only. (Yes, we're being cute with "85".)
We open the weekend on Thursday night with a gathering at Mory's. In addition to Yale's programming, the Class of '85's two guest speakers (Friday afternoon) are celebrated faculty members Dr. Akiko Iwasaki and Marc Freedman. Dr. Iwasaki is the preeminent immunobiology scientist whose groundbreaking research on inflammation has driven the research of numerous diseases including long Covid. Marc Freedman, lecturer at SOM, is the author of five books including How to Live Forever: The Enduring Power of Connecting the Generations, named by the Wall Street Journal as one of the year's best books on aging well. Later Friday afternoon we're bringing back One-Minute Memoirs, a directed open-mike session giving classmates the opportunity to share highlights of their life and times, in one minute or less. On Friday evening, there'll be cocktails (and pre-cocktails for first time reunion goers as well as classmates who want to connect with '85ers they may not have met before), followed by dinner and entertainment from classmate Arthur Zinn and his band Mind the Gap.
On Saturday afternoon, several accomplished classmates will lead topical panels. Kevin Johnson will lead a panel on American electoral reform and the rule of law; Calvin Chou will lead the group "Living After - and With - Partner Loss"; Anne Wilson Brown will moderate a panel discussion on Our Third Act; and we'll all learn more on a panel about Higher Education in the 21st Century. For our last big night together, DJ Rob will spin '85 classics along with more current hits after our cocktails and class dinner. Hopefully, by our goodbye Sunday breakfast, everyone will be delightfully exhausted with all the fun and good cheer from our 40th Reunion together.
Come As You Are (Again…) and Celebrate the Class of 1985’s 40th Reunion!
Warm regards,
Your 40th Reunion Co-Chairs
Anne Harris Carter and Lorena Lopes
